Privacy Policy

EasyListen helps you train your ear in English, Spanish, and Portuguese with real audio and word-by-word subtitles. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the EasyListen mobile app and to this website, including the pre-launch waitlist.
01.Who we are
EasyListen is built and operated by Jang Acuña Ferrer, an independent developer based in Uruguay. You can reach us at jang94uruguay@gmail.com.
02.Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the app and keep your progress:
- Account data: your email address (required for sign-in), a display name, and the authentication method you used — Apple Sign-In on iOS, Google Sign-In on Android, or a one-time code sent to your email on either platform. We do not store passwords — authentication is passwordless.
- Learning data: your target language, chosen CEFR level (A2, B1, B2), lessons you have started or completed, quiz answers and scores, daily streak, and any words you saved to your vocabulary.
- Generated content preferences: the topics, levels, and accents you request when asking the app to generate a lesson.
- Subscription state: whether your account has an active Premium subscription, the plan type, and expiration date. We never see or store your credit-card details — Apple and Google handle payment data directly.
- Waitlist email: if you signed up on the pre-launch waitlist, we store the email address and the platform you selected (iOS or Android) so we can notify you when the app launches on your device.
- Baseline technical data: standard server logs (IP address, request timestamps) maintained by our backend provider for security and abuse prevention. We do not use analytics, advertising IDs, or crash-reporting SDKs.
03.How we use your data
Your data is used only to run the service:
- Authenticate you and keep you signed in across devices.
- Save your progress, streak, and vocabulary so you can pick up where you left off.
- Generate lessons with the topic, level, and language you request.
- Verify and unlock Premium features for subscribers.
- Communicate important service messages and launch notifications.
We do not sell your data, rent it to advertisers, or use it to build profiles about you.
04.Third-party services we rely on
To keep EasyListen simple and inexpensive we build on top of established providers. Each one only receives the data strictly needed for its role:
- Supabase (backend, authentication, database, audio storage, serverless functions). Your account, learning data, and generated audio are stored in Supabase.
- Apple Sign-In (iOS authentication). If you sign in on iOS using Apple, Apple shares your email address and display name with us. If you choose Apple's email-hiding feature, we receive an anonymized relay address instead. See Apple's privacy policy for how they handle your account data.
- Google Sign-In (Android authentication). If you sign in on Android using Google, Google shares your email address and display name with us. See Google's privacy policy for how they handle your account data.
- Google Cloud Text-to-Speech (Neural2 voices). When the app generates a lesson, the generated text is sent to Google Cloud to be converted to audio. The audio is cached in Supabase Storage so we do not request it again.
- Google Gemini (lesson text generation). When you request a lesson, your topic, level, and language are sent to Gemini. We do not include your account identity, email, or any personal data in the prompt.
- Apple App Store / Google Play (billing). If you subscribe to Premium, Apple or Google processes the payment and shares only a receipt with us that confirms the subscription.
05.AI-generated content
Lesson text and comprehension questions are generated by AI (Google Gemini). Audio is produced by a neural text-to-speech model (Google Cloud TTS). Two things to know:
- Your prompts do not include personal data. We send only topic, level, and language parameters to the AI provider.
- AI output may occasionally be imperfect. Generated content is checked against quality heuristics, but EasyListen is a language practice tool, not a substitute for a certified teacher. Always use your own judgment.
06.Payments and subscriptions
If you subscribe to Premium, the transaction is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play depending on your device. We receive a receipt confirming the subscription, its expiration, and the plan you bought, but we never receive or store your credit-card number, bank details, or billing address.
Subscriptions renew automatically through your App Store or Google Play account until you cancel. You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time from your device's subscription settings. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their refund policies.
07.Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile, learning progress, vocabulary, and any cached data linked to your user ID.
You can delete your account in two ways:
- In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
- By email: write to jang94uruguay@gmail.com from the address linked to your account. See the Delete Account page for full instructions.
Some data may be retained for a short time in backup snapshots and to satisfy legal or abuse-prevention requirements. These copies are rotated out on the schedule of the underlying provider (typically within 30 days).
08.Age requirement
EasyListen is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove the account and its associated data.
09.Security
All traffic between the app and our backend is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to your data is controlled by row-level security rules so that each user can only read and write their own records. No system is perfectly secure — if you become aware of a vulnerability, please contact us so we can address it quickly.
10.Your rights
You can at any time:
- Access the data we hold about you, by contacting us at the email below.
- Correct inaccurate data from within the app (display name, language, level).
- Delete your account and all associated data (see Section 7).
- Opt out of the pre-launch waitlist at any time by replying “unsubscribe” to any email.
11.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Whenever we do, the updated Effective Date will appear at the top of this page. We recommend checking back from time to time — continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
